Forbury Gardens Day Nursery complies with Health & Safety Regulations and has been inspected and approved by the Department of Environmental Health and is registered to provide care for 95 children.

The Nursery receives an annual inspection from OFSTED Early Years.  The Nursery has written policies and procedures which have been approved by Social Services and OFSTED.  Our full policies and procedures file can be found in the Entrance Hall.

HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

The policy is to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment, equipment and methods of work or rest for staff, children and visitors.

Training, supervision and information will be given as necessary.
Senior staff are responsible for their departments and nursery nurses for their areas of work.
Every employee is responsible for their own welfare and for the health and safety of others including the children.
Any serious injury or dangerous occurrence should be reported to the Nursery Manager immediately.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY

Children and adults alike should be treated with kindness and consideration and should be recognised as individuals with differing needs which should be catered for, but who should also be given equality of access and opportunity despite disabilities, special educational needs and differing social backgrounds.

There should be no stereotyping according to race or gender.
Racial origins, cultures, religions and languages must be valued and respected. Toys, equipment, books and attitude should reflect and highlight positive aspects of these and create a harmonious multi-cultural society within the Nursery.

BEHAVIOUR POLICY

Children are taught a sense of right and wrong, to have mutual respect and develop caring personal relationships and good manners. There should be positive reinforcement of good behaviour through praise.

Staff should anticipate and intervene if difficulties arise, use positive discussion and re-direction of children if necessary. Clear consistent boundaries should be given. If a child is continually unhappy and challenging in their behaviour, then this will be discussed with parents and a plan of action agreed to encourage positive behaviour.
The Nursery Manager is the named person responsible for behaviour management within the Nursery.
For more information on any of our policies, including child sickness and child protection policy, please contact the Nursery Manager or see our full prospectus.
